What makes an invoice GST-compliant

A tax invoice needs both parties' GSTIN (if registered), an HSN or SAC code per line item, the applicable GST rate, and the correct CGST/SGST vs. IGST split based on whether the sale is within your state or across states. Nothing you enter here is sent anywhere — the invoice is built and rendered entirely in your browser. This is the same engine as the Invoice Generator, with the GST toggle already switched on.

Frequently asked questions

What's different about a GST invoice vs. a plain invoice?

A GST invoice (tax invoice) adds the GSTIN of both parties, an HSN/SAC code per line item, the applicable GST rate, and the CGST/SGST or IGST split — fields a plain invoice from an unregistered business doesn't carry.

How do I know whether to charge CGST + SGST or IGST?

Based on the place of supply: if it's in the same state as your registered address, charge CGST + SGST; if it's in a different state, charge IGST instead. Use the supply-type toggle in the tool above to switch between them.

Do I need my customer's GSTIN on every invoice?

Only if they're GST-registered and you want them to claim input tax credit on the purchase. For an unregistered or end-consumer buyer, you can leave the buyer's GSTIN blank.
